Responsible Gambling partnership forms with Cuyahoga County Court

Responsible gambling is at the heart of our Keep it Fun campaign, which encourages players to play within their means, shows them how to spot a gambling problem, and share resources to get help.

We work year round to spread that message through our own responsible gambling program and by joining forces with other state agencies as part of Ohio for Responsible gambling.

That partnership has extended to the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

The Court announced a partnership with Recovery Resources and Ohio for Responsible Gambling to develop a first of its kind court program in the state to address criminal charges that stem from problem gambling.

The goal is to help individuals overcome the difficulties that brought them into the justice system, and for some that could be a gambling addiction.

Specially trained probation officers known as Gambling Recovery Officers, will provide a gambling assessment to identify individuals who may have a problem, and they will work hand in hand with Recovery Resources and certified counselors to help individuals break the negative cycle of problem gambling.

Those who successfully complete the program may have their felony charge dismissed to avoid having a felony conviction on their record.

If you or a loved one is experiencing a gambling problem, help is available. Visit Keep it Fun, Ohio for more information and resources.
