Winner Wednesday

Wednesday is here, and it’s a cause for celebration – a celebration of winners! Keep reading to see who’s winning in Ohio this week.

Patricia Denoon of Parkersburg, WV celebrated a rocking win! She won $4,795 playing EZPLAY Progressive Jackpot game, Rock’n 777s. Patricia purchased her winning ticket at Peoples News, located at 412 Washington Blvd. in Belpre.

Heather Clack of Cleveland hit the jackpot playing Rolling Cash 5. She won $100,000 playing the daily draw game. Heather purchased her winning ticket at Old Brooklyn Food Market, located at 4785 Pearl Rd. in Cleveland.

Betsy Jewell of Newark scratched her way to a big win this week! She won $20,000 playing $30 scratch off, 40th Anniversary Millions. Betsy purchased her winning ticket at Circle K #5305, located at 34 S. 30th Street in Newark.

Edward Burless of Warren hit big playing Powerball. He won $100,000 on the May 22, 2019 drawing. Edward purchased his winning ticket at Champion’s Convenient Mart, located at 4853 Mahoning Ave. NW in Warren.

David Young of Albany is a big winner this week! He won $20,000 playing our newest $10 scratch off, 50X the Money.

Tamara Hughes of Piketon scratched her way to a big win! She won $10,000 playing $500,000 Cashword. Tamara purchased her winning ticket at Piketon Duchess #1240, located at 615 S. West Street in Piketon.

James Tucker of Elyria is celebrating a perfect win this week. He won #35,302 playing EZPLAY Progressive Jackpot game, Perfect Game 300. James purchased his winning ticket at Dales Pub & Grub, located at 41573N. Ridge Road in Elyria.

David Salus of North Lima scratched his way to a top prize win this week. He won $500,000 playing new $10 scratch off, 50X the Money. David purchased his winning ticket at Western Reserve Sparkle Market, located at 1135 W. Western Reserve Rd. in Boardman.

April Partners in Education Winners

The school year may be coming to an end, but these Ohio students and teachers are still working hard in the classroom! Check out our April Partners in Education Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month.

Our first Academic All Star is Gwen Gojevic. Gwen is in the fourth grade at Westview Elementary School. She is known as a role model with a can-do attitude. Gwen participates in Choir, Yoga, Kids in the Community, and Student Council. Teachers say this about her: “Gwen smiles throughout her day, works hard to accurately accomplish tasks, and does not give up when presented with a challenge.”

Camryn Hemmelgarn is our next Academic All Star. Camryn is a Senior at Turpin High School and is described as a very special young lady; she is a great leader and role model. She is the president of the Kind Club, captain of the Varsity Cheerleaders, member of the Mock Trial team, and student aide in the Media Center. She strives to make sure all students “feel good with themselves.”

Zahia Mills is our next April Academic All Star. Zahia is in the fourth grade at Oxford Elementary School. “She puts her all into her work,” says Intervention Specialist, Lynne Gains. She works to independently solve problems and is a curious reader.

Our next Academic All Star is Israel Mujibi. Israel is in the first grade at Hamilton Elementary School. He is described as a star student. First grade teacher, Mrs. Fisher, said, “Israel is one of the most caring students. He is kind to everyone, encourages his classmates, and praises them when they do well. He helps people in need by sharing his supplies or assisting students when struggle with various activities and assignments.”

Our fifth Academic All Star is Jaliyah Mixon. Jaliyah is a Junior at East Palestine High School. She is described as “a great student with notable attendance and flawless behavior”. Jaliyah is involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities. She is a member of the Varsity Girls Basketball and Track teams. She is involved in Student Council as Class President, Science Club, and is a member of National Honor Society. She also attends Science Camp and YSU Youth Leadership Summit.

Ryan Turner is our sixth April Academic All Star. Ryan is in the eighth grade at Edison Middle School. He is described as a model student and an extremely hard worker. Ryan is a member of the Basketball and Baseball teams, and he maintains “stellar grades”. He is also an active member of his church. Mrs. Self is Ryan’s teacher, and she said, “Excellence is strived for in all that he does! He is the most polite and respectful student you would ever have the pleasure of meeting.”

Leigh Crites is our first April Teacher of the Month. Leigh teaches fifth grade Science and Social Studies at Morrison Gordon Elementary School. Alicia and Joel Porter are the parents of one of Leigh’s students. They said, “Leigh is an excellent Science and Social Studies teacher. [Our] son has excelled in her class because of the way she engages the students.” Leigh coordinates a camping trip to Hocking Hills each year to show students how water, rocks, and trees shape our landscape.

Our next Teacher of the Month is Bonnie Sansenbaugher. Bonnie teaches STEM, Environmental Science, Biology, and Oceanography for grades 9-12 at East Palestine High School. Along with being described as an “amazing and engaging high school science teacher”, Bonnie is known for her involvement in her school and community. She is the co-founder of the Science Club, organizes the summer Science Camp, the advisor and supervisor for Student Council, and has coached Volleyball, Basketball and Track. Bonnie was selected to participate in the Appalachian Regional Commission/Oak Ridge National Laboratory Math-Science-Technology Institute and was published in Science & Children magazine along with another teacher. She volunteers at Dog Days a Day of Giving and Park Board activities.

Marian Stephens is our next Teacher of the Month. Marian is a Title One Reading Specialist for grades 2-4 at Oxford Elementary School. She is described as someone who “students and staff look forward to seeing each day because she is always smiling and positive.” A fellow staff member said, “She energetically teaches Reading, coaches teachers, mentors others in the building, manages the Scholastic Book Fair, and coaches Student Council.”

Our fourth Teacher of the Month is Brandon Thomas. Brandon teaches Agricultural Food and Natural Resources for grades 9-12 at Liberty Union-Thurston High School. He is known for spending hours before, during, and after school helping students. Cortni Brunty has a child in Brandon’s class, and she had this to say: “Mr. Thomas has personally helped my kid find her voice and be confident in herself.”

This past weekend, we celebrated Mother’s Day. Today, we’re celebrating big winners! Keep reading to see who’s winning in Ohio this week!

Donald Conger of Wellston scratched his way to a big win this week! He won $15,000 playing Decade of Dollars. Donald purchased his winning ticket at Speedway #9335, located at 1219 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Wellston.

Bryon Maschari of Norwalk hit a big win this week. He won $50,000 playing the $5 EZPLAY game, Blackjack.

Tyler Harrel of Marietta is celebrating a big win this Winner Wednesday. He won $50,000 playing the $5 scratch off, Bingo Times 10. Tyler purchased his winning ticket at Par Mar #6, located at 101 Alta St. in Marietta.

Amy Ketchum of Kinsman is shining bright after her big win this week. She won the top prize of $150,000 playing Emerald Green 7’s. Emerald Green 7’s is part of the Jewel 7’s family of $5 scratch offs. Amy purchased her winning ticket at Main Street Convenience, located at 8509 Main St. in Kinsman.

Edward Romano of Minerva picked up a big win this week. He won $27,500 playing Pick 5! Edward purchased his winning ticket at Rocky’s III, located at 625 Lincolnway E. in Minerva.

Loretta Gilmer of Youngstown struck gold this week! She won $20,000 playing the $10 scratch off, Diamonds and Gold. Loretta purchased her winning ticket at Big Apple Supermarket, located at 1108 McGuffey Rd. in Youngstown.





Anthony Plicinski of Oregon won big playing Pick 5 this week. He won $55,000 playing the daily draw game. He won big on the May 13, 2019 evening draw. The winning numbers were 4-4-7-7-7. Anthony purchased his winning ticket at Johnny’s On the Spot II, located at 3205 Navarre Ave. in Oregon.

Welcoming May with Winner Wednesday

It’s the first day of May, and we know just how to celebrate: with Winner Wednesday! Check out who’s winning in Ohio this week!

John Plott of Vermilion had a mega win this week! He won $10,000 playing Mega Millions. John’s win happened on the April 26, 2019 drawing. He purchased his winning ticket at Mickey Mart #56, located at 302 W. Jefferson St. in Republic.

Jennifer Owsley of Dayton kicked off the week with a hot big win! She won the top prize of $20,000 playing the $2 scratch off, Some Like It Hot. Jennifer is holding on to her prize for warmer weather. She’s going to use the money for a well-deserved vacation!

David Allen of Phillipsburg won’t just be celebrating his big win this week; he’ll be celebrating for the next decade! He won the top prize of $1,000 a month for 10 years playing the $2 scratch off, Decade of Dollars. David’s prize will be paid in 10 annual payments of $12,000 before taxes. His prize total is $120,000! He has not yet decided what he plans to do with his prize, but he was very excited about the big win.
